Everything we do at Signature Ventures is motivated by three fundamental convictions.
Progress and prosperity over the coming decade will be driven by a new wave of Deep Tech innovation. We do not say this because we just love technology, but because we are convinced that the problems society faces today and will face tomorrow require radically new approaches. We believe that completely new technological primitives will power these solutions. Some have already been identified but need to further evolve. Others are yet to be developed. In both cases innovation will be at the heart of these solutions.
In search of radically new solutions, early-stage Deep Tech investing means seeking breakthroughs rather than incremental improvements. It means backing category-defining innovators who embrace complexity, thrive in uncertainty, and accelerate when others hesitate. Those rare individuals possess the imagination to ask the right questions and the expertise to ensure the answers they come up with are scientifically feasible and economically sustainable.
At the earliest stages in Deep Tech, there are no blueprints to follow, benchmarks to compare to, or best practices to hold on to when making investment decisions. Instead, investors need to rely on their own unique mix of skills. Based on these beliefs, we have built the Signature Ventures family of funds. While each fund pursues a distinct investment strategy, they are all anchored in the same convictions and thus complement each other.
